Introduction
This PV Installation Best Practices Protocol was developed through the SAPC Installation Best Practices subcommittee, which is comprised of a wide array of solar industry leaders in numerous fields of practice. The protocol was developed over roughly one year and eight months of direct engagement by the subcommittee and two public comment periods by the full working group. Purpose This Installation Best Practices Protocol is designed to improve solar asset transparency for investors and rating agencies, provide an industry framework for quality management, and reduce transaction costs in the solar asset securitization process. The Installation Best Practices Protocol is intended to outline the minimum requirements for third-party ownership providers (“Providers”). Adherence to the protocol is voluntary. Providers that adhere to the protocol are responsible for self-certifying that they have fulfilled the protocol requirements. Protocol Overview The Installation Best Practices applies to one- and two-family dwellings, townhomes, and Group R-2, R-3, and R-4 buildings (as categorized by ICC) three stories or fewer in height above grade with a separate means of egress and their accessory structures.
